Old Logging Road- Mt Loop Hwy 1-7-12

Last weekend, I went with Dave and Adventure Dog out onto a trail that was not a particular trail.  We just followed an old closed-off logging road into the woods and then went off-trail a bit, scrambling through the woods and across a pretty river. We met up with Dave's brother Ron there too, which was nice.  It had been snowing in the night and the hillsides above were frosted.

The old road had grown over with brush and trees had fallen across it, making it too narrow to be a road anymore, but quite a nice size for a trail.

The pictures do it no justice, but this ancient stump was covered with the plushiest greenest moss!  It seemed like another world on top.

There were numerous lovely streams babbling along through the woods.

This was the pretty river we crossed!  First on this bridge, which was made with huge logs and once held logging trucks no doubt.

On the last crossing though, we went down the bank and over a log or two to the other side.  It was a lot of fun, and Cedar was happy to be off-trail.

Get out there and explore!
